Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc (TteS) is a fast-growing vibrant organization committed to the development and progress of its Band Members and Community. As such, the TteS invites applications from qualified, highly motivated and dynamic individuals to fill the following position.

POSITION TITLE: School Cook

DEPARTMENT: Sk’elep School of Excellence

SUPERVISOR: Sk’elep School Principal

TERMS: Full-Time, Permanent

REFERENCE #: 2024-081

Purpose Of Position

To provide a balanced and nutritional food program to the students of Sk’elep.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Sk’elep policies, standards and procedures, and as directed by the Principal.
  • Maintains confidentiality on all matters relating to the affairs of the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc and the Sk’elep School of Excellence.
  • Prepares, cooks and serves breakfast and lunch meals for the Sk’elep School of Excellence.
  • Plans and ensures meals are nutritionally balanced.
  • Ensures the safe operation of kitchen equipment and work procedures.
  • Maintains kitchen facilities in a clean and safe condition.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as necessary in the performance of the position, and as assigned by the Principal.

Professional Certification, Education And Experience

  • Two to three (2-3) years’ experience cooking in an institutional or community setting for over 100 people.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Demonstrates problem solving skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize and prepare meals for a large number of people.
  • Demonstrates ability to keep food costs low while still maintaining quality of meals.
  • Friendly and supportive to school children, school staff and guests in the school.
  • Preference given to TteS member with required qualifications.

Required License, Certification Etc.

  • Good interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize and prepare meals for a large number of people.
  • Friendly and supportive to school children, school staff and guests in the School.

Assets But Not Required

  • Band Member of the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc
  • First Nations Ancestry
  • Ability to Speak Secwepemc Language

Special Requirements

Accredited Cooking Certificate and experience.

Food Safe Certificate

First Aide - Level 1 or higher

WCB Work Safe

HOURS OF WORK: Normal Day shifts - 7 hours. Non-normal shifts may be required.

PAY GRADE: $20.08-$22.18 depending on education and experience
