What you’ll do:
Reporting to the Vice President Agro & Energy, the Director of Ag and Energy is responsible for leading the Agriculture and Energy functions for South Country Co-op. This position is responsible for implementing Agricultural and Energy strategies, programs and the initiatives in the organization and providing input into the development of organizational Agriculture and Energy strategies. This position collaborates with the leadership team to ensure consistent alignment of Agriculture and Energy programs and practices across the organization and is responsible for the development of policies to support the key activities and programs.
The Director – Ag & Eergy will be:
- Accountable for providing operational excellence and responsible for developing and maintaining Agriculture and Petroleum principles, practices, and procedures
- Partner with Senior Leadership Team to consistent alignment of Agriculture and Energy programs and practices across the organization and is responsible for the development of policies to support the key activities and programs
- Provide strategic leadership for the operations of Agro and Energy Division to achieve growth and business development objectives
- Accountable for the overall management of the Agro and Energy division business plan and budget to meet sales, expenses, and profit objectives. Responsible for overall management of Agro and Energy Division
- Partnering with the Senior Leadership Team to formulate, develop, implement and evaluate Agriculture and Energy Strategies to achieve the organization’s vision, mission and goals with a clear focus on evidence-based advocacy, advisory work, and scaling up of operations
- Responsible for leading the Agriculture and Energy functions, which includes implementing Agricultural and Energy strategies, programs and the initiatives in the organization and providing input into the development of organizational Agriculture and Energy strategies
- Guide the Agro and Energy Division in interpreting and defining general operational goals, objectives, policies, and procedures, ensuring alignment and synergies between the two commodities
- Oversee the implementation of new business strategies for creating or improving processes and procedures to improve corporate performance within the Agriculture and Energy commodities
- Responsible for sales margins, expenses, and working capital in Agro and Energy Division
- Seek opportunities within Agro and Energy commodities to grow sales, increase margins, reduce expenses in each operation
- Actively participate in short and long-term strategic planning and decision-making for the organization and participates in the development and implementation of policies and programs.
- Support direct reports in their recruitment, onboarding, retention, training and employee relations matters in consultation with Talent and Culture
Who you are:
You are looking continue your career in senior leadership and:
- Possess an undergraduate degree with a preference for Business, Petroleum Engineering, Agriculture, or Agri-Business or relevant experience.
- 10+ years’ experience of relevant progressively responsible experience in Business, Petroleum Engineering, Agriculture, or Agri-Business
- 6+ years of leadership experience
- 2+ years’ Agro and or Energy generalist experience partnering directly with senior leadership to develop, align and implement organizational development strategies
- Experience implementing strategies and systems across Ag and Energy commodities
- Strong business acumen, including well-balanced strategic and tactical agility with the ability to provide thoughtful, progressive and strategic guidance
- Exceptional communication, coaching and interpersonal skills
- Expertise in analysis, critical decision making, project management, and process improvement
- Ability to identify, influence, and collaborate with key stakeholders to achieved desired organizational outcomes

- The Team: Provide guidance and support on all Agriculture and Petroleum practices to the Ag and Petroleum team, team leaders and team members. This includes mentoring and coaching team leaders.
