Job Summary
Reporting to a Policy Advisor on the Strategic Initiatives team, the Program Specialist is responsible for supporting, coordinating, and executing a range of programs and initiatives that support growth in Halton with a focus on project administration, data analytics and visualization, and spatial data.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Administer and coordinate programs and initiatives that support the Region in delivering infrastructure to support growth, including monitoring of residential and non-residential development activity, collecting data on economic and employment trends, reviewing trends related to housing, and implementing the Region's Allocation Program, among other things.
- Manage, track and provide updates on the implementation of programs and initiatives.
- Prepare reports, memos and/or presentations for Regional Council and/or Senior Management regarding program implementation, including through data visualizations.
- Organize and analyze data and identify and assess issues related to growth, implementation, and the delivery of Regional infrastructure.
- Coordinate committees and project teams and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to advance program implementation.
- Represent the Region at public meetings, open houses, and community stakeholder meetings and provide customer-focused services, including responding to public inquiries.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
- The candidate will possess a recognized post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant field such as Public Administration, Project Management, Data Analytics, or similar studies.
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience working on related projects or initiatives.
- High degree of computer literacy, including experience with spatial data, data analytics, and data visualization.
- Experience with program coordination and project administration.
- Demonstrated skills in organization, research, analysis, and communication.
- Attention to detail, ability to identify problems, provide solutions, and develop proactive approaches to improve and refine processes.
- An equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered.
Working/ Employment Conditions
Travel within Halton Region may be required.
