Job Summary
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide Clinical Psychology Services to Outpatients, (preschool, school age children and adolescents) within the Mental Health and Addictions Program. The position provides assessment and treatment, through an interdisciplinary team approach on both an individual and group basis. Applicants should be well versed in psychological assessment, diagnosis and treatment of children with behavioral, emotional, anxiety, learning, developmental trauma and other problems.

Specific duties and responsibilities of this position include: clinical assessment of the comprehensive mental health needs of children, adolescents and their families who are dealing with complex issues such as anxiety, behavioral and learning issues, trauma, witnessing violence, child sexual abuse, maltreatment, separation and divorce, and parenting children and adolescents; provide advanced clinical intervention to these children and their families through a broad range of therapeutic frameworks including individual therapy, family therapy, play therapy, group therapy (both with children and parents), and trauma debriefing; research, analyze, and implement theoretical frameworks to address the specific mental health needs of this population; design, develop, implement and evaluate group treatment programs specific to the identified needs; provide community education sessions and consultation. Providing care to the single session walk in clinic is an expectation of this position. The Clinical Psychologist III functions autonomously and may involve direct supervision of provisionally registered psychologists, psychology doctoral residents and students. This position reports to the Program Manager of Child/Adolescent Community Mental Health Services and maintains accountability to the Psychology Professional Practice Consultant for professional integrity and practice issues.

Job Demands
Occasionally, there is lifting or physical strength required, less than 10 lbs for files, boxes, or equipment.
Regularly sits; occasionally works in awkward/cramped positions, and stands to facilitate or teach groups.
Uses fine finger/precision work when on the computer and visual concentration is required when in sessions with patients (i.e. reviewing patient charts/notes, tests and for documenting work, and when reading or researching information).
Visual concentration is required to interpret patient observations and integrate into patient evaluation.
Auditory concentration is constantly required in sessions with patients to listen attentively, to be alert and to obtain and interpret information correctly.
A higher than normal level of attentiveness is required when assessing high risk patients.

Job Qualifications
Graduation with an approved/recognized Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology is required.
Registration or provisional registration with Newfoundland and Labrador Psychology Board is required.
Graduate course work and supervised experience in psychological assessment and therapy with children, adolescents, families and groups with a specific focus on mental health issues is required.
Previous experience supervising Doctoral level residents is preferred.
Exhibited strong communication, program development and evaluation skills.
Possessed strong leadership and supervisory skills that are focused on engaging others and developing coalitions.
Demonstrated ability to provide strong and comprehensive clinical support, training and mentorship to Clinical Psychologists II's and other supervisees.
Possessed strong analytical, critical reasoning, collaboration, problem solving, decision-making and organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to effectively translate and communicate knowledge in the specialized area of psychology practice to others. Demonstrated ability to conduct research, deliver lectures/clinical education sessions and provide clinical direction and consultation within an interprofessional environment.
Ability to work autonomously, prioritizing caseloads and client needs.
Demonstrated ability and willingness to participle in the clinical training activities of the psychology discipline.
Demonstrated strong awareness of ethical principles and standards of professional conduct.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
