Job Summary & Requirements

Reporting to the Intensive Care, Cardiac Intervention Unit & Cardiac Care Unit Managers, the Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who is responsible and accountable for providing high quality patient care within a delivery model in accordance with the philosophy, policies and standards of care of the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH), the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) and all relevant legislation. This is a critical care float position specifically for ICU and CCU. This candidate will be adaptable and comfortable with a changing environment.

Education:

Current registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Nurses.

Critical Care Certificate required or willingness to complete within one year of hire.

Coronary Care I & II required.

Current BCLS required.

Current ACLS is required.

CNCC(C) preferred.

Post graduate courses in Cardiology, Respiratory and Physical Assessment are essential.

Must pass a screening arrhythmia quiz obtaining an 80% to move onto interview phase.

Experience:

Current Nursing Experience In An Adult ICU/CCU Required.

Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump experience preferred.

Strong background in cardiovascular physiology, electrocardiography and rhythm interpretation an asset.

Experience With Aortic Hemodynamic Monitoring Is Preferred.

Recent experience in the care of the acute Post Angiogram/Angioplasty patient preferred.

Radial And Groin Sheath Management Experience Preferred.

Must be able to perform all physical demands of patient care in the ICU and CCU
