Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager the Registered Practical Nurse will be responsible for comprehensive nursing in the care of Medically Complex patients. Safety (patient, worker & workplace) is a BCHS Corporate Priority. The successful applicant will demonstrate good stewardship in the identification, reporting and mitigation of unsafe acts or conditions.

Education Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited college nursing program
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
  • Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) training
  • Fundamentals of Palliative Care (preferred)
  • Geriatric Certificate (preferred)

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Recent experience in medically acute, rehabilitation or medically complex nursing setting.
  • Strong clinical practices with ability to champion evidence based best practice
  • Knowledge and understanding of Continuing Care reporting systems (CCR), Resident Assessment Instrument(RAI) and Minimum Data Set (MDS)

Mandatory Competencies

  • Recent experience in medically acute, rehabilitation or medically complex nursing setting.
  • Strong clinical practices with ability to champion evidence based best practice
  • Knowledge and understanding of Continuing Care reporting systems (CCR), Resident Assessment Instrument(RAI) and Minimum Data Set (MDS)
