Contract type: Full time
Job Description

Are you a hands-on leader with a passion for mechanical engineering and cutting-edge automotive manufacturing? Ready to take your career to the next level? Our client is looking for an innovative Manager of Engineering to join their state-of-the-art tool and die shop, specializing in on-demand engineering of automotive parts through high pressure die casting.

In this role, you’ll lead a team of talented engineers, drive high-profile projects from start to finish, and play a key role in shaping the future of their engineering department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of mechanical engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
  • Provide daily goal setting, task management, and feedback to ensure team performance aligns with organizational objectives.
  • Represent the engineering team in customer pitches, meetings, and presentations.
  • Act as a technical liaison between customers and the team, translating client needs into actionable engineering tasks.
  • Oversee the full project lifecycle, from concept to production, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet all quality standards.
  • Proactively manage project risks, troubleshoot issues, and optimize processes.
  • Actively participate in technical problem-solving, including hands-on involvement in design, prototyping, and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure that all engineering work aligns with industry standards and cutting-edge practices in injection molding and automotive parts manufacturing.
  • Conduct annual reviews, set individual and team performance goals, and provide continuous feedback.
  • Develop and implement professional development plans to grow the skills of the engineering team.
  • Work closely with other departments, including production, quality assurance, and sales, to ensure seamless coordination and delivery of projects.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering team and the overall shop operations.
  • Leverage emerging technologies and methodologies to enhance productivity, quality, and efficiency.
  • Ensure all engineering activities adhere to safety regulations, quality standards, and industry certifications, particularly within automotive manufacturing and high pressure die casting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role, preferably in a foundry, tool and die, or automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Expertise in high pressure die casting, automotive part design, and mechanical systems.

+Strong understanding of CAD software and project management tools.

+Demonstrated ability to lead engineering teams, manage complex projects, and directly engage with customers and cross-functional teams.

  • Willingness to get involved in the technical aspects of engineering projects, not just delegate. A proactive, problem-solving mindset is essential.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • International travel 6-7 times per year. Must have or be able to obtain a passport.

If you love solving technical challenges, enjoy working directly with customers, and want to be part of a dynamic and fast-paced environment, this is the job for you!
