This is a permanent, full-time position, working 75 hours bi-weekly.

The Geoscience Research Manager is a key member of Yukon Geological Survey’s (YGS) senior management team. They lead the planning and implementation of YGS research program activities, develop policies and strategies related to the collection, analysis and reporting of geoscience information, and create metrics to track program outcomes. The Geoscience Research Manager provides scientific leadership to YGS’ three science program units (Bedrock Geology, Surficial Geology and Minerals Geology) and liaises with the Manager of Technical Services to ensure geologic data and information that are shared publicly meet a high standard of quality.

Essential Qualifications

• Education: PhD in Earth Science or related field;
• Experience participating in AND leading multidisciplinary research teams to successful project completion, including development of project plan, securing funding and implementation;
• Experience with technical writing as demonstrated by a list of publications in resume;
• Experience managing personnel (i.e. developing people, leading teams with diverse skills, mentoring, and performance management) and financial resources.
