Your Opportunity:

AHS has an exciting new opportunity for a Clinical Coordinator position based out of Mackenzie Place/QEII Ambulatory Care Center at the Mackenzie Place Transition Care Unit. The incumbent will work with a large group of stakeholders on opening the new Transition Care Unit. The Transition Care Unit is a 19-bed unit that provides care for clients transitioning from hospital to home, who require additional assessments or convalescence time before moving to a Continuing Care Home or returning to their previous home living environment. Reporting to the Care Manager, the Clinical Coordinator provides supervision and leadership to the Transition Care Unit personnel, supporting the day-to-day operations in the provision of safe, professional, and dignified care. The Clinical Coordinator has a key role in the coordination of resident/client care, collaborating with the Care Community to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Description:

As an Assistant Head Nurse, you will be responsible for staff assignments, patient flow and acting as a role model, clinical resource and advocate for nursing staff. In addition to providing frontline nursing care, as required, you will take a leadership role in the promotion of quality patient care and the implementation of operational priorities. Your in-depth knowledge and skills, advanced judgment and clinical experience, will assist in providing solutions for complex health care issues at all levels with patients, interprofessional teams, administrators and policy makers. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

Creative, motivated, enthusiastic, effective role model. Ability to use principles of time management and problem solving. Depth and breadth of nursing knowledge and complex reasoning. Nursing standards/protocols as required related to job assignment. Knowledge of scope of practice as defined by the HPA, College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta, Licensed Practical Nurses Professional Regulation and CLPNA Standards of Practice and other guiding documents. Strong communication skills utilizing a variety of modalities (e.g.: verbal, written, active listening). Ability to adapt communication style to meet the needs of specific clients, relay client information to primary healthcare provider(s), on and off-site, in a timely, concise, accurate manner, in order to facilitate the primary healthcare provider’s treatment decisions. Assessment skills to recognize and respond appropriately to changes in client status. Effectively uses information and communication technology to improve inter-professional person centered care. Effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills. Complex reasoning skills to make decision in strenuous and changing environments by compiling information from multiple sources. Displays an attitude that conveys respect and dignity of all persons. Independent and shared accountability in a just culture. Balance numerous demands and conflicting priorities. Establish caring and respectful relationships with clients, families and coworkers.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous supervisory experience. Previous experience in the provision of staff education. Previous experience in the assignment of care and supervision of unregulated health providers. Supportive Pathways.
