GENERAL FUNCTION

The Loan Review Analyst is responsible for identifying, investigating, and mitigating potential fraud risks in the loan application and approval process. This role involves reviewing loan files for discrepancies, irregularities, and signs of fraudulent activity, ensuring the organization complies with regulations and minimizes risk. The Loan Review Analyst works closely with various departments, including risk management, fraud, credit, legal and complaints, to safeguard the organization from fraud-related losses.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of loan applications, documents, and approvals to detect potential fraud or suspicious activity.
  • Investigate irregularities in borrower information, credit history, or loan documentation that may indicate fraud.
  • Utilize specialized fraud detection tools and systems to analyze loan files and assess the risk of fraud.
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to gather information and resolve questions related to potential fraud cases.
  • Stay informed about emerging fraud schemes, trends, and techniques in lending industry.
  • Assist in enhancing internal fraud detection policies, procedures, and training programs.
  • Provide guidance and support to other areas of the business involved in the loan approval process.
  • Support fraud investigations and prepare documentation when necessary.


EDUCATION

High School Diploma Required

Secondary Education preferred
 

EXPERIENCE

2-5 years of Financial Services store experience

2-5 years Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook experience
 

SKILLS

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly to management and relevant stakeholders
  • Excellent analytic and investigative skills
  • Strong knowledge of loan process and products
  • In-depth understanding of fraud detection techniques, schemes, and risk management principles
  • Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple cases simultaneously
  • Demonstrated exceptional customer service
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment
  • Ability to be confident, assertive, and well-organized
  • Prior experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Technical proficiency in relevant operating systems, applications, and/or languages is required
  • Ability to work within flexible shifts scheduled to operate "retail business" hours of operations, including holidays
  • Strong ethical standards and ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to mitigate fraud
