The Opportunity

Are you passionate about technology and eager to make an impact in the food industry? We’re looking for a Control Systems Software Designer to join a veritable industry leader, where you’ll play a crucial role in creating the brains behind industrial HVAC systems.

While we’re looking for someone with a basic understanding of HVAC, this position offers a fantastic opportunity to dive deep into this specialized area and grow your expertise. You’ll work closely with seasoned engineers and cross-functional teams to develop innovative, user-friendly control systems that keep food processing environments running smoothly.

Position Description

Craft Innovative Software

  • Be part of a dynamic team designing the software that powers industrial HVAC systems.
  • Bring control algorithms to life, managing temperature, humidity, and air quality in food processing environments.
  • Develop intuitive user interfaces that make it easy to monitor and control these critical systems.

Bridge the Gap Between Software and Hardware

  • Play a key role in integrating your software with the physical components—hardware, sensors, and actuators.
  • Ensure seamless communication between HVAC systems and other industrial control systems like SCADA or PLCs.

Test, Tweak, and Perfect

  • Get hands-on with testing to make sure everything works perfectly.
  • Dive into simulations and on-site testing to see your control strategies in action and fine-tune as needed.

Collaborate and Learn

  • Work alongside experienced engineers who are eager to share their knowledge of HVAC systems and control design.
  • Help create the blueprints for the organization’s control systems, documenting software architecture and control logic.
  • Be the go-to support for their field teams during system installation and troubleshooting.

Grow Your Skills

  • This role isn’t just a job—it’s a learning experience. Continuously expand your understanding of HVAC systems and control software.
  • Stay ahead of the curve by keeping up with the latest industry trends and advancements in technology.
  • Be part of the solution, offering ideas to improve their existing systems and identifying areas for enhancement.

Experience

  • Experience in control systems software design.
  • Experience with PLC programming (like Siemens, Schneider, Allen-Bradley).

Qualifications

  • A basic understanding of industrial HVAC systems, paired with a strong desire to learn and grow your expertise.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as C/C++, Python, or similar is a bonus.
  • Knowledge of HMI/SCADA systems and industrial communication protocols.
  • A solid grasp of control theory and automation principles.
  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities, with a drive to collaborate and learn from experienced engineers.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites as needed for system commissioning and support.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field OR a College Diploma in Engineering Technology with 5+ years of experience in control systems software design.
