Role Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director, Capital Planning and Programming (CPP), this position works in a team environment as a member of the CPP team of professionals with a mandate to develop innovative and timely strategies and solutions to complex transportation investment needs, and provide leadership, strategic analysis and recommendations related to the program management and reporting requirements to support the Ministry of Transportation and Economic Corridors' mandate and goals.


The primary responsibilities of the Sr. Scheduling/Monitoring Tech include (but are not limited to):

  • Leading the Program Management team effectively to ensure outcomes are delivered in accordance with business and operational plans
  • Analyzing and interpreting data relating to the in-year program forecasts and expenditures to ensure a high level of accuracy, timeliness, and usefulness
  • Monitoring in-year approved Construction Program budget to ensure program activities align to financial, business, legislation, policies and procedures
  • Providing complete and timely information to the Senior Management/Executives and other stakeholders.
  • Conducting regular evaluation of processes, making recommendations for improved approaches including technology solutions that enhance program management
  • Providing the year-end forecast, expenses and variances, project contractual commitment and budget-related information on a monthly (in some cases bi-weekly) basis to Finance Branch and Executives

Qualifications

Required:

Two-year technical diploma in a related field PLUS seven years related experience; or equivalent as described below


You must also have:

Expert or Advanced knowledge of MS Excel


Equivalency

Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience or
  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education


Assets:

  • Knowledge of transportation capital and network planning and construction
  • Knowledge of program effectiveness and risk management techniques
  • Knowledge of government financial, business, legislation, policies and procedures, as well as department-specific standards and legislation, financial and operational policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of government's strategic direction as it relates to capital planning and fiscal responsibility
  • Knowledge of project planning, design construction, and procurement practices, including alternative procurement arrangements
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite software including Excel, Access, Word and SharePoint
  • Knowledge of stakeholder groups and their issues and potential impacts on future transportation investments and delivery
