Position Overview

RWDI is seeking a dynamic individual to join its Sustainability team as a Senior Decarbonization Specialist preferably in our Toronto or Guelph offices, but negotiable for any one of RWDI’s North American offices. This is a full-time permanent position.

The role of the selected candidate will be to position themselves as a trusted advisor to our current clients and help lead the expansion of our business in the decarbonization space. They will also have a role to drive our internal CSR efforts and engage with different stakeholders as well as presentations to the board.

The right candidate will ideally have 7 + years of consulting experience related to sustainability with at least 3 years on decarbonization.



The role includes but is not limited to the following:

  • Advise clients across diverse and innovative decarbonization, and GHG emission reduction projects with a focus on buildings and industry.
  • Utilize a systems approach and compile necessary data for integrating the relevant voluntary carbon reporting considerations into the client’s asset management strategy.
  • Lead consulting and compliance efforts for various net zero, and voluntary carbon disclosure programs.
  • Work with team members and leaders to support client relationships and business development initiatives such as assisting with proposals, market research, and growing service offerings.
  • Participate in ongoing training and industry group sessions on decarbonization topics.
  • Provide guidance for our internal CSR plan, advise our stakeholders on options to reduce carbon emissions at a global level.


Candidates will be primarily evaluated on their possession of the following qualifications, skills, knowledge, and experience. Please ensure you are clearly articulating these points in your application.

  • Bachelors or Master’s Degree in a relevant field from an accredited university.
  • Experience with sustainability, decarbonization, and voluntary carbon disclosure frameworks or consulting on related issues.
  • Knowledge of decarbonization and carbon reporting frameworks and standards (e.g., Global Reporting Initiative, GHG Protocol, SBTi, TCFD, NZAM, SASB) as well as local regulations.
  • Experience with GHG accounting (i.e., boundary setting, data collection and analysis, building the GHG inventory, producing and presenting the results).
  • Ability to problem solve and develop solutions when project requirements are ambiguous and evolving.
  • Ability to speak to clients at pitches and be quick to think on your feet.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple and competing priorities and timelines
  • Experience in growing and developing a service line.
  • Experience in life cycle analysis / embodied carbon calculations is a plus.
  • Involvement in industry groups, associations, or other is preferred.
  • Strong interest in sustainability, decarbonization, and climate change.


Candidates Should Also Possess

  • Demonstrated innovative, independent problem-solving methods/capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work cross functionally.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience in data analytics to deliver insights and decisions.
  • Perform technical analysis and research as necessary, and communicate findings through reports, emails, calls, and presentations.
