Through athletics and recreation programming, they strive to be national leaders in wellness, sport, and recreation excellence. The REDS also lead many internal and external general events across various facilities in hopes of being engaged within our community.

Additional Working Conditions:

  • Evening and weekend work is required to accommodate events.
  • Occasional requirement to work on holidays and during snowstorms.

Salary Rate: $22.42 per hour

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the AUC Arena Foreperson, the Arena Attendant 1 conducts a variety of routine work including cleaning the area, assisting in ice preparation and making, minor maintenance repairs, vehicle and equipment operation & major and minor setups for events in and around the building.

  • Perform custodial cleaning duties such as: sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, disinfecting, and cleaning washrooms, dressing rooms, fixtures and mirrors, interior, and exterior glass, replenishing washroom supplies, disposing of refuse inside and outside the building, maintaining garbage containers on a day-to-day basis, organizing the storage facilities and tool room, replacing light bulbs, cleaning, and mopping stands and VIP boxes, keeping all areas in a sanitary condition.
  • Perform semi-skilled maintenance; minor repair work, painting and /or mechanical trades as required in and around the building.
  • Operate forklifts, zoom booms, scissor lifts, ice cleaning/resurfacing machines (ie: Zamboni), power cleaning equipment and related arena equipment.
  • Assist in the arena preparation for all ice and non-ice events - setting up of staging, chairs, lighting, stairs, drapery, flooring, carpeting, signage, and other related duties to ensure a successful event.
  • Remove and replace rink glass before and after events and assist in the installation, painting, and removal of the ice surface.
  • Read and records gauge, perform minor routine vehicle and mechanical maintenance duties such as checking fluid levels, adjusting, and replacing belts, tire pressure, adjusting and making blade changes.
  • Identify safety hazards that put employees and visitors at risk.

  • Replace broken tees daily, replace camera covers, keep all entrances and emergency exits free of snow, ice, rocks, and debris, maintain ice thickness levels, check, and repair seats daily.
  • Report major safety issues immediately to the Arena Foreperson.
  • Inspect vehicles and input data in logbook.
  • Wears appropriate safety gear and adheres to proper installation and safety procedures for all events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of labourer or general maintenance experience.

Additional Strengths

  • Arena Training Level 1 would be considered an asset.
  • First Aid, CPR, AED training is considered a strong asset.
  • WHMIS Training.
  • Respirator Training and Ticket.
  • Zamboni Training.
  • Fire Extinguisher Training.
