The salary scale for Professional Support 3 is based on twelve steps that range from $ 62,382.29- $ 87,211.36. New Professional Support may receive up to a maximum of seven steps for relevant occupational experience which is $ 74,891.37 annually.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The educational qualification for this position are 2-years diploma in Business Administration or related field.
  • You have a minimum of 3 years (full-time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience in project coordination, job development, employment readiness skill development, sales/marketing or cold calling/sales techniques, working with contact management systems, and workshop delivery.
  • Occupational experience that includes supporting work integrated learning and co-op in a post-secondary environment including an understanding of academic and administrative structures would be considered an asset.
  • Experience with implementing and maintaining databases would be a significant asset.
  • Experience designing and delivering workshops would be an asset.
  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, e-mail.
  • Experience with Orbis/Simplicity, Learning Management System such as Peoplesoft, and LaMPSS would consider an asset.
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology to create an exceptional student experience
  • You have experience delivering compelling presentations and documentation that demonstrate your ability to research, process, organize information to effect positive change while building strong relationships with broad stakeholder groups including students/clients, internal audiences, industry partners, and government (e.g., internal briefing notes, system/technology adoption strategies, etc.)
  • You have experience supporting/providing service to students and prospective students

  • You possess excellent coordination skills specifically related to coordinating services, training, events, project proposals, policy and procedures work, and collating data from multiple sources for reports and making recommendations.
  • You have proven records and information management skills and abilities specifically related to procedural documentation, risk management reporting, and reporting to external funders and government.
  • You have strong project coordination skills, leading working groups or committee work to meet target deadlines and outcomes.
  • You have excellent organizational and time management skills: able to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work assignments, negotiate changes to priorities as they arise, and deliver by the appropriate deadlines.
  • You are dedicated to life-long learning. Membership in a professional association or organization related to work-integrated learning or career development (e.g., CEWIL National/Atlantic, CACUSS/AUCUSS, NSCDA) is considered a strong asset.
  • You show a strong commitment to relationship building and are comfortable reaching out to network with industry, government, and educational stakeholders to promote work integrated learning opportunities and programming.
Responsibilities

What you will be doing…

  • Under the direction of the Manager, Career & Employment Services, the Work Integrated and Experiential Learning Coordinator will focus on the continued development and implementation of experiential learning (EL) and work integrated learning (WIL) activities across the schools' certificate and diploma programs. The coordinator will play a critical role in increasing student Co-op participation throughout all faculties, new program development, such as EL and WIL components. The coordinator will promote EL and WIL opportunities and in establishing relationships with employers and community agencies, locally, regionally and nationally. The coordinator will be required to work collaboratively with the wider Student and Career Services and Student Affairs team, and campus communities delivering innovative student engagement strategies in the areas of EL and WIL, employability, volunteerism, and overall student experience.
  • The coordinator functions as the central point of contact for employers and campus teams for all work integrated and experiential learning activities and is responsible for reporting on these activities to enable evaluation and continued improvement efforts. Project coordination is an important aspect of this role and involves relationship building, communication, collaboration, and support for all facets of project coordination, i.e., labour market research, identifying regional and national opportunities, planning, development, proposal writing, marketing, budgeting, implementation, problem solving, accurate and timely communication, timelines, reporting and evaluation with multiple and diverse internal and external stakeholders.

As a condition of employment, Professional Support employees at NSCC must complete an adult education program delivered by NSCC. This adult education program is a significant investment on the part of NSCC in the learning and development of new employees. To achieve regular status; all probationary, full or part-time Professional Support employees of the College must successfully complete the program within their probationary period. Term full-time Professional Support employees whose term appointment is twelve or more months are also required to participate in this program.
