Talent Acquisition Manager

Waterloo, Ontario

The Talent Acquisition Manager provides guidance, education, and recommendations on activities related to the full cycle of recruitment. The Talent Acquisition Manager works within their communities and in coordination with the Human Resource Department and the District Leadership Team. Working within the established recruitment and selection processes, the Talent Acquisition Manager works to ensure adequate and qualified staff and volunteers are recruited. The Talent Acquisition Manager is responsible to predict, plan, advertise, coordinate, and participate in selection activities to ensure consistent and accountable recruitment strategies are implemented.

The Talent Acquisition Manager embraces the Christian Faith Foundation of the organization; ensures the Christian ethos and the Values, Vision and Mission permeate their job responsibilities; and personally commits to the expectations as outlined in the Statement of Faith.

Key Initiatives Include

  • Prepare and deliver presentations promoting volunteer and employment opportunities to stakeholders, including but not limited to the Christian community, community centres, employment resource centres, cultural groups, immigrant centres, First Nation Community networks, and Developmental Services networks/agencies to source candidates.
  • Develop strong relationships and networking opportunities with educational institutions within the community (e.g., colleges, universities, high schools) for the purpose of establishing a talent pipeline and creating and maintaining a student placement program.
  • Develop recruitment strategies and networks to promote a diverse workforce through our advertising, marketing, and hiring practices.
  • Plan and execute in-person and virtual job fairs internally and attend job fairs externally to promote recruitment and Karis Disability Services.

Essential Functions

  • Active sourcing of candidates through networking and using electronic platforms.
  • Respond to recruitment inquiries from internal and external parties.
  • Work collaboratively and actively with organizational Recruitment team to make recommendations for improvement, develop new processes and identify efficiencies, ensuring organizational consistency.
  • Receive job vacancies and create internal and external job postings.
  • Prompt response to applicants; receive and review resumes, determine which candidates will be selected for candidate screening.
  • Manage the entire recruitment process, including scheduling interviews, conducting background checks, and extending offers.
  • Where there are collective agreements, receive applications and manage the awarding of contracts, in consultation with the Area Manager.
  • Coordinate on-site assessment/2nd interview with hiring manager (or management designate), equipping hiring manager to present Expectations of Employees based on Values, Vision and Mission and/or Statement of Faith.
  • Receive and evaluate required Vulnerable Sector Screens, Standard Police Checks, driver records, and immunization dates.
  • Track candidate information at each recruitment stage into appropriate database and track vacant contracts and relief needs by community.
  • Produce reports on recruitment to District leadership, such as year-in-review (number of hires, etc.).
  • Track successful hire rates from various sources to determine future practices.
  • Receive, review, track, and authorize staff referrals ensuring referral criteria and requirements have been met.
  • Hire, supervise, direct, and coach team members.
  • Conduct monthly support meetings.
  • Complete staff performance appraisals annually and promote staff development.

Education And Experience

  • 1-2 years of previous experience in a related position
  • College Diploma in Human Resources
  • Human Resources Professional designation (CHRP, CHRL) required
  • Networking and Relationship Building
  • Managing Multiple and Competing Projects
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills
  • Maintain knowledge of provincial Occupational Health & Safety legislation, the Act respecting Employment Standards, provincial regulatory requirements and the Human Rights Code.
  • G-Driver's licence.
