FNHA Overview

The First Nations Health Authority is a diverse and transformational health organization of professional, innovative, and dedicated team members and leaders.

The first of its kind in Canada, FNHA works as a health-and-wellness partner with BC First Nations to support self-determination and decision-making to improve health outcomes.

This innovative First Nations-centered program will provide First Nations, Inuit and Métis students and new graduates with invaluable work experience in Human Resources to develop professional HR skills at the FNHA and to gain exposure in First Nations health care. Our goal is to match a student’s education, skills, and career goals to the various needs of the FNHA and First Nations.

Title: Expression of Interest – First Nations Student Program - HR Coop Student

Salary: Up to Bachelors: $19.38 - $23.12 - $25.44 per hour OR Masters: $22.44 - $26.27 - $28.90 per hour (pay range explained below)

Contract: 4 Months – (Cohorts run: January to April, May to August, and September to December)

Hours: Monday to Friday (core hours 9am-3pm Mon-Fri)

Location: Syilx or Secwépemc (West Kelowna or Kamloops BC)

About The Role

As a First Nations Student, you will gain and experience – meaningful experiences to pursue a career at FNHA or in the Human Resources field. You will be exposed to various areas within HR including Recruitment, Health and Safety, Communications, and Cultural Safety.

About You

To be Eligible in this program you will have/be

  • Enrolled in or recently graduated from a post-secondary institution with a focus on Business, Human Resources, or an equivalent field.
  • Attaining or in the process of attaining your Canada Professional Human Resources designation (CPHR)
  • Open to either Co-op or Practicum students.
  • First Nations, Inuit or Métis students or new graduates
  • Reside in British Columbia during the program

The Pay Range is the minimum and maximum annual salary based on full time equivalent hours.

Incumbents are typically hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the range based on their knowledge, skills, abilities and experience in relation to the role requirements.

The top 10% of the pay range is for the incumbents who are industry experts in the job with the combination of exceptional experience and competencies needed to perform all duties and responsibilities at a superior capability level.

As a health and wellness organization, the FNHA has aligned with the Provincial Public Health Order released on October 14, 2021. We have a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all employees at First Nations Health Authority. This policy requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. If selected for employment, you will be required to provide proof of vaccination by providing a copy of your BC Vaccination Card Passport with the QR code.
