We seek an experienced Facilities Manager to join our Senior Leadership Team at the Club. As the chief maintenance and infrastructure management professional, you are a proactive, supportive leader who proactively anticipates, oversees and contributes to prolonged sustainment of the building, facilities, infrastructure, and mechanics of the Glencoe Club now and into the future. You will develop, guide, and continually elevate a high-performance team dedicated to delivering superior facilities and services that meet and exceed member expectations while championing fiscal responsibility and forecasting for prudent capital and operating expenditures, reporting analysis including quarterly reports and KPIs, and strategic planning for continuous success.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements long—and short-term business plans and operational and capital budgets to ensure the effective and sustainable operation of facilities and the life cycle and maintenance of facilities and equipment.
  • Enhance, elevate, and continuously improve all infrastructure aspects of the buildings, including facility maintenance, shipping and receiving, surface and grounds, and housekeeping.
  • Oversees the project management function (design, planning and scheduling, selecting and monitoring contractors and consultants, site inspections and progress billings) for capital projects and contractor services.
  • Strengthen and maximize all aspects of Club mechanical facilities including, but not limited to, energy management, HVAC, ice plant, electrical and plumbing.
  • Champions operational excellence through advocating and implementing best practices, standard operating procedures, processes, and leadership to control and reduce operating expenses while providing comfortable, convenient environments throughout our facilities.
  • Demonstrates and builds expertise on equipment, processes and laws relating to the buildings within Alberta and the City of Calgary while ensuring the safety of Employees, Members and their Guests, Suppliers and Contractors
  • Maintains sound knowledge of the Club’s operations, activities, programming logistics, and communications to minimize disruptions, planned downtime, and other business interruptions/impacts
  • Proactively detects and removes/ mitigates all physical hazards and unsafe conditions immediately through productive issue and risk management, including the provision of safety work orders, anticipating near misses, and communicating lessons learned, resulting in maximizing accident prevention

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience administering a building maintenance management system, delivering concurrent maintenance/preventative maintenance programs, general facilities management services, and hands-on experience with diagnosing and working with building mechanicals (HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, etc.).
  • A relevant post-secondary Engineering credential is required (i.e. Power Engineering, Engineering Technology, bachelor’s degree in engineering, etc.).
  • Experience managing capital projects, such as renovations, significant installations, or equipment/systems replacement.
  • Arena Operator Level 1-2, Pool Operator Level 1-2, and experience working in an environment with pools, hockey/skating arenas, and curling facilities are considered assets.
  • Experience in a relevant industry is an asset, such as recreation, sport, attractions, public facilities, etc.
  • Previous experience in the oversight, delivery, and supervision of repairs, maintenance and facility-related projects, including budgetary oversight and capital planning
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively navigate leadership challenges and opportunities, including the ability to foster relationships, build high-performance teams, and lead/organize/connect with employees
  • Proven ability to enhance performance and develop employees through effective delegation, goal setting, coaching, empowerment, and recognition
  • Strong business acumen and critical thinking complemented by financial and entrepreneurial skills, coupled with excellent communication, writing and public speaking skills
  • Ability to navigate through challenges, problem solve and influence progress through cooperation, conflict resolution, and facilitation

Additional Details

This is a full-time salaried position that reports to the General Manager.
