The Opportunity:

Are you a highly motivated, detail oriented professional? We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Financial Analyst working with our Horizon Financial Accounting group. As a successful candidate, you will be responsible for monthly and quarterly financial accounting, analysis and reporting. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, effective communication and is a team player.

• Shift schedule: 5 x 2 (Monday to Friday)

Key Accountabilities

• Preparation of monthly capital accruals, fixed asset transfers and warehouse inventory obsolescence transfers
• Monthly and quarterly account and variance analysis reporting
• Support and mentorship of junior staff in the Oil Sands Accounts Receivable function
• Quarterly reporting of the Horizon Oil Sands and consolidated Oil Sands PP&E reporting in support of the Company’s MD&A and financial statement disclosures
• Collaboration and continuous improvement in support of the Oil Sands accounting function, including development and maintenance of appropriate financial controls
• Direct and execute annual filings such as Mine Financial Security Program (MFSP), SR&ED and the Horizon Insurance renewal
  
  

What You Bring To The Role

• Preferably 5+ years of related industry experience with a University Degree in Accounting, Commerce, or Business Administration
• Experience in Financial and Management accounting as well as top tier Microsoft Excel skills are required
• CPA Accounting designation is preferred
• Experience with E1 (formerly JD Edwards), Essbase and Power BI are considered assets
