About The Role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular full-time Field Services Representative I to join our dynamic Process Management team.

The Process Management team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by providing technical support in various aspects of biomedical engineering. In this role you will be responsible for providing technical support in various aspects of biomedical engineering, as well as for supporting services on an ongoing basis for: installations, validations, preventative maintenance, demand maintenance and repairs of specified centre and/or national Equipment Services equipment. You will be responsible for documenting all activities within Canadian Blood Services equipment maintenance database, occasionally providing technical training to peers and FSR 1's and other assorted duties as assigned. As a technologist, this position is seen as a senior FSR role and will be expected to have superior problem solving and troubleshooting skills.

Formula for success

  • Leveraging your experience working with various lab equipment, you will act as a champion of the equipment services program for the site and all serviced sub-sites.
  • Drawing from your technical skills, you will provide technical support and act as a technical subject matter expert to the equipment owners.
  • Perform preventative and demand maintenance for Equipment Services equipment and Canadian Blood Services manufacturing equipment.
  • Consult and provide subject matter expertise in the acquisition of new equipment.
  • Under the direction of the regional supervisor you will be responsible for technical writing related to the equipment services program.
  • Under the direction of the regional supervisor you will act as a mentor for junior biomedical technologists/technicians.
  • Pulling from your superior organizational skills, you will generate documentation ensuring adherence to Canadian Blood Services corporate standards and applicable regulations.


Desired education and skills

  • Post-secondary level diploma in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution, preferable Biomedical/Clinical Engineering or Healthcare technolog
  • Knowledge of biomedical safety and electrical safety codes and their application.
  • Excellent computer skills are essential.
  • A strong working knowledge of Standard operating procedures, Service manuals, Safety manuals and Manufacturer guidelines.
  • Knowledge of Lean methodologies, such as Lean or Six Sigma is preferred.
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with colleagues, management, and customers.
  • A Valid driver's licence is Require
  • An acquired knowledge of the operations of a health-related organization and/or regulated environment is an asset.
  • Experience with documentation of equipment service records in a highly regulated manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are essential.

What you can expect

  • Shift/hours - Monday to Friday, business hours.
  • Travel requirements - Occasional travel to other Canadian Blood Services sites within Ontario will be required. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Physical requirements - this position can require periods of sitting, standing and walking. As well it requires that occasionally the incumbent will need to lift, push and/or pull up to 50 lbs.
