Business Analyst � Technology Replacement Initiative

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled Business Analyst to support our technology replacement initiative, which involves updating software components across multiple systems. This project includes managing interfaces between various Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) applications, ensuring accuracy, quality, and safety during this transition. The target completion date for the implementation activities is set for Q3 2025.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with different departments and stakeholders to analyze business requirements, facilitate process improvements, and support project management activities to achieve our objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather requirements for the affected interfaces.
• Conduct interviews, workshops, and surveys to understand stakeholder needs and document their expectations and pain points, summarizing findings in a report.
• Document the current and future states of the interfaces, including data flows, business rules, use cases, and user stories.
• Identify gaps, issues, and risks related to the interfaces, proposing solutions and mitigation strategies.
• Validate requirements with stakeholders, gathering feedback and obtaining approval.
• Create a requirements traceability matrix to ensure alignment with project objectives and scope.
• Prepare a comprehensive requirements specification document detailing both functional and non-functional requirements.
• Conduct environmental and market scans to identify potential solutions and target architecture.
• Develop a business case for the recommended solutions.
  
  

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Experience: 10+ years in business analysis or a related role; experience in the midstream sector is a plus.
• Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., Excel) and project management software.
• Team Collaboration: Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Adaptability: Comfortable adapting to changing business environments and managing multiple priorities.
  
  

Preferred Competencies

• Training and certifications in Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BA BOK).
• Experience with pre-project business analysis, including stakeholder analysis, requirements gathering and validation, and business case development.
• Familiarity with assessing solutions against architectural guidelines, including evaluating buy vs. build options and local vs. cloud/SaaS solutions.
• Experience conducting market scans and evaluating requirements against market findings.
• Availability to meet in person at our Edmonton locations as needed.
