Our client, a major Oil and Gas company, is looking for a Data Analyst to join their team on a 1-year contract in Calgary. The successful candidate will be responsible for data analysis, supporting business stakeholders to execute data cleansing and conversion, establishing data governance, and gathering reporting requirements. This role will work closely with both business stakeholders and other business and technical analysts on the project team to support the successful implementation and ongoing optimization of the new technology solution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analysis: Analyze data to identify gaps between the current state and required future state. Develop and implement a strategy to remediate these gaps according to project timelines.
  • Data Migration: Plan and execute the migration of existing data to the new Source to Pay system.
  • Data Cleansing: Working closely with the Lead BA – Integrations & Data, this will involve mapping data from legacy systems to the new system, cleansing and transforming data as needed and ensuring data integrity during the migration process.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including procurement, finance, and IT, to ensure data accuracy, integrity and readiness.
  • System Support: Assist in the configuration design of Source to Pay software to meet project requirements.
  • Training: Provide training and support to end-users on data governance, reporting tools and best practices.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of data sources, methodologies, and reporting processes.
  • Communication and Facilitation: Communicate effectively with the business to understand their data and facilitate discussions to drive necessary decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in data analysis and reporting, preferably in a procurement or finance environment.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Power BI) and scripting to execute data transformation. Experience with data integration and ETL processes
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Source to Pay software (e.g. GEP, SAP Ariba, Coupa, Maximo).
  • Certification in data analysis or related fields.
  • Knowledge of procurement processes and best practices
