RPI Executive search has partnered with a leading global manufacturer in their search for a Vice President, Finance based in Edmonton. Reporting to the CFO, and as a member of the executive leadership team the successful VP Finance, along with their team members, will be accountable for the stewardship of this growing organization’s financial resources.

Key Responsibilities

The VP Finance role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities, including ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting in compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations. This involves providing financial reports to the board of directors, investors, and other stakeholders, with key tasks such as global consolidated financial reporting, organizing the global annual audit, and managing bank reporting. You will serve as the Finance Sponsor throughout all phases of the global ERP system implementation, where the focus is on integrating global reporting and forecasting within the new system, ensuring the team's successful adoption, and delivering effective system training to finance teams.

This role oversees the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) function, which is crucial for delivering accurate financial information and analysis to senior management and the board, supporting business decisions through financial analysis, modeling, annual budgeting, and forecasting.

Financial risk management is another key responsibility, involving the identification and management of risks, including credit, market, and operational risks. This includes developing and implementing strategies to mitigate these risks, with activities such as managing the global insurance plan, FX risk management, global banking, financial oversight of subsidiaries, and designing and implementing internal controls.

The VP Finance will monitor and manage the company's cash flow and liquidity, overseeing cash management, investment governance, and debt structuring and management. Lastly, the role ensures compliance with tax, legal, and regulatory requirements, encompassing tax planning and compliance, transfer pricing, and adherence to global financial reporting standards.

Candidate Experience

While no individual will embody every quality, the successful candidate will bring many of the following professional qualifications and personal competencies:

Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration. However, other impressive combinations of experience and education may be considered.
  • Recognized accounting designation.
  • 10-15 years’ relevant experience with experience, with a strong preference for global manufacturing.
  • Experience transitioning to or working within IFRS.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, as well as reporting and analytical tools.
  • Large ERP implementation experience is highly desirable.
  • In-depth knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and manufacturing accounting principles.

  • Ability to occasionally travel domestically and internationally as business needs dictate.
