Our client is a paralegal firm dedicated to the advocacy of injured workers. They are looking for a passionate advocate to join their team. This position will provide you the opportunity to work your advocacy skills through written and oral advocacy opportunities.
Responsibilities
- WSIB appeal merit reviews and issue identification
- Advise injured workers regarding issues and evidence for their claims and appeals
- Preparation of witnesses for hearings
- Advocacy at WSIB and WSIAT levels of appeal - both written and oral
- Daily client file management and follow ups utilizing online case management system
- File status reporting
- Must have a license from the LSO in good standing
- Working knowledge of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, 1997 and related WSIB Operational Policies
- Ability to manage and manipulate PDF documents in Adobe Acrobat DC Pro, Experience using Microsoft Office 365, including MS Teams and Zoom platform; familiarity with practice management software an asset
- Strong written and oral communication skills, and demonstrated ability to interpret caselaw and develop legal arguments
- Ability to multi-task and self-manage workload and priorities
- Immediate start, full-time (40 hours per week)
- Remote (work from home) position, with in-office attendance as required
- Must have access to reliable internet connection
