As an Account Manager, you will play a critical role in promoting and selling our solid waste services, helping us achieve our growth objectives and maintain our competitive edge in the market.

Your Impact:

  • Customer Engagement: Develop and maintain relationships with existing and prospective customers by traveling throughout the assigned territory to assess and meet their needs.
  • Market Expansion: Identify new market areas and strategies to increase sales and market share within the assigned territory.
  • Sales Development: Prepare sales contracts with knowledge of pricing, costs, and equipment, with input from the Facility/General Manager. Provide price quotes and credit terms to potential customers.
  • Customer Management: Maintain and manage lists of prospective customers using the ACT database and other techniques, including cold calling.
  • Product Knowledge: Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of solid waste products and equipment pricing, costs, and applications, including roll-off presentation, commercial placement, and full-line applications.
  • Sales Presentations: Demonstrate proficiency in organizing and delivering effective sales presentations to major accounts, showcasing the value of GFL’s products and services.
  • Competitor Awareness: Stay informed about competitor activities and industry trends to strategically position GFL’s offerings.
  • Contract Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, provincial, and municipal laws, regulations, and company policies.

You Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, or equivalent experience.
  • 2-3 years of sales experience with a thorough knowledge of sales techniques.
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents, professional journals, technical journals, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to self-direct various initiatives and work under limited supervision.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Valid Driver's license.
