As the Project Engineer, reporting to the Leader, Capital Maintenance, you will be responsible for managing the engineering, design and construction of The City of Calgary potable water treatment and delivery facilities which include two water treatment plants, 40 secondary pump stations and 24 underground water storage reservoirs. Primary duties include:
- Manage projects, including engineering design, coordination of resources, scheduling, quality control and collaboration with client groups.
- Prepare material and construction specifications, schedules, tender documentation process, procurement.
- Evaluate tenders and field construction project coordination and procurement of owner supplied equipment.
- Solve problems related to treatment plant equipment and buildings.
- Fulfill duties as a project manager in accordance with the City of Calgary corporate project management framework.
- Select engineering consultants and contractors for design and construction of new facilities and/or retrofit or replacement of existing.
- Manage contracts and direct engineering consultants and construction contractors during the design and construction phases of projects.
- Provide engineering support to the operations and maintenance units of the Water Treatment Division.
Qualifications
- A degree in Engineering and at least 3 years of relevant professional engineering experience obtained after receiving your P. Eng. Designation and a current licensure as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) complete with practicing status OR licensure and practicing status by the first day of work Click here for more details.
- Advanced communication skills, excellent teamwork, judgement, and problem-solving skills, and a demonstrated ability to make independent decisions
