Civil Crown Counsel 3: $7,063.55 to $7,832.16 biweekly ($184,358.66 - $204,419.38/year)

The Legal Services Division of the Ministry of Justice supports the Minister in providing legal advice to the Premier and Cabinet. Role Responsibilities

As the Education Counsel, you will work on long-term projects and develop educational programs and related initiatives for leaders, legal officers, paralegals, legal assistants, and other Division staff. The position will also lead, or support initiatives related to articling and/or summer students, onboarding, practice group support, succession planning support, and knowledge management in the Division.

Your main responsibilities in the role will include:

  • Developing and implementing plans, initiatives, and programs on behalf of OLO.
  • Leading the development of education programs to meet identified learning needs.
  • Supporting change management and communication strategies.
  • Taking on responsibilities for student programs
  • Supporting initiatives in furtherance of the Division’s strategic and operational plan.

Qualifications

A Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or Juris Doctor (JD) is required. For Law degrees obtained outside Canada, proof of accreditation from the National Committee on Accreditation (NCA) is required. You must be an active member or must have immediate eligibility for full membership with the Law Society of Alberta.

This opportunity is available to experience lawyers at the Civil Crown Counsel 2 or Civil Crown Counsel 3 level.

Civil Crown Counsel 2 (over 4 years of related experience)
Civil Crown Counsel 3 (over 11 years of related experience)

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following assets:

  • Minimum of 8 years experience practicing law;
  • Experience working within Education, Public Administration and/or Information Management.
  • Previous experience working within Alberta Justice
  • Demonstrated experience in project and change management.

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 36.25 hours per week.

This opportunity is for (1) permanent, full-time position based in Edmonton, Alberta.
