Who We Are

Victoria Cool Aid Society acknowledges the Lekwungen and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples of the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations, on whose traditional territories we build homes, lives, and communities. The Victoria Cool Aid Society (Cool Aid) provides affordable housing, emergency shelters, primary health and dental care, nutritious meals, and wellness programs such as recreation, employment, and volunteer opportunities. With your support, the staff helps more than 12,000 people annually at 20 locations in Victoria, Saanich, and Langford. Cool Aid houses and supports more people who have been homeless in their community than any other organization on Vancouver Island.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy & Community Engagement the Manager is instrumental in driving the Society’s donor, sponsorship, bequests and annual and capital campaigns. The Manager plays a key role in major and planned gifts, and donor relations including individual, foundation, and corporate contributions.

The Manager will establish integrated strategies for donors and prospects including identification, cultivation, engagement, recognition and stewardship. The Manager will provide internal consulting services and strategic advice on fund development initiatives.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and implement strategies for inviting, securing, recognizing and stewarding major individual, foundation and corporate gifts and sponsorships
  • Develop a Major Gifts Fundraising Plan that supports Cool Aid’s strategic priorities and Capital Campaign
  • Identify and cultivate major sponsorship prospects within the business and general community in collaboration with the CEO, directors, and managers
  • Support others internally with cultivation and stewardship activities, as well as identifying and developing strategic partnerships
  • Develop strategies for moving donors toward a major and planned gifts
  • Create tailored asks for key major donor/prospects based on giving history, preference, and research
  • Personally manage a portfolio of major and planned gift prospects and donors
  • Coordinate Annual Giving campaign focused on building relationships with individuals, foundations, and corporations

Qualifications:

  • University degree in marketing, public or non-profit administration, or related field, and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five (5)+ years’ experience of successful fund development, including major and planned gift donor and prospect relations, and project management experience in the non-profit sector.
  • CFRE and/or APR designation useful.
  • Involvement in AFP and/or CAGP desirable.

Requirements

  • Complete the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General Criminal Record Check.

Job Information

  • Salary: $85,446.40
  • Work Location: Central Services - Discovery.
  • Work Days: Monday-Friday
  • Shift Times: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. With some flexibility for weekends and evenings as needed.
  • Weekly Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Union: Exempt.
  • Benefits Eligible for 100% employer-paid including health and dental care benefits. Long-term disability, employee and family assistance program, compensatory time off, paid sick time, and four weeks of vacation.
  • Job Type Full time - Permanent.
