As a Backend and Integrations Developer, you will have technical ownership for your functional areas and understanding of customer problems and how they can be turned into solutions. You will be engaged in the research, development, support, and systems maintenance process of the Descartes Aljex software. 

Responsibilities For Backend And Integrations Developer 

  •     Define, develop and maintain Descartes Aljex REST-based API 
  •     Develop integrations with third-party REST services
  •     Develop shared service applications (e.g., shared document storage)
  •     Migrate services and processes from the Descartes Aljex legacy applications to our new platform
  •     Design and implement database migrations to support applications, APIs and shared services.
  •     Author unit and integration tests to achieve target code coverage levels.
  •     Evaluate existing and new backend components for improvements related to security, efficiency and throughput.

Qualifications For Backend And Integrations Developer 

  •     5+ years of programming experience with 
  •     Ruby/Rails, Python or equivalent modern object-oriented language
  •     PostgreSQL or similar relational database system
  •     Redis
  •     Development experience defining, developing and maintaining REST-based interfaces.
  •     Development experience implementing integrations with third-party REST services.
  •     Experience authoring unit and integration tests as part of the development process.
  •     Experience working with Git or similar version control systems. 
  •     Excellence in technical communication with peers and non-technical cohorts.
  •     Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.
  •     Strong communication skills.
