Job Description:

L3Harris MAS plays an important role in In-Service Support (ISS) of the Canadian CF-18 (Hornet) Fighter aircraft Program. Our mandate includes performing modifications, inspections and repairs on the Avionic systems as well as the complex verification and maintenance tasks of the CF-18 aircraft.

Essential Functions:

  • Document non-conformities according to established procedures;
  • Draft and complete inspection reports and Work Orders accurately;
  • 6 years' experience on aircraft (preferred);
  • Maintain a high standard of workmanship and discipline as detailed in Canadian Forces Technical Orders;
  • Conduct scheduled and unscheduled aircraft inspections/repairs and report results to Supervisor;
  • Participate in the preparation of aircraft maintenance tasks relating to electrical, avionics and electronic systems for the purpose of the flight or acceptance by the customer;
  • Perform work on avionics systems and visual, functional or operational audits of a complex nature on CF-18s in accordance with the Canadian Forces Technical Instruction (CFTO), technical drawings, notebooks of Assembly, the standards of materials and processes and the working instructions in force;
  • Verify, adjust, repair or replace devices and equipment of a complex nature such as:
    • On-board computers, data calculators;
    • Display screens, GPS and INS (EGI), video recorder system;
    • Communications, Radar and Omni-directional beacon Radio;
    • Weapon system controls, tactical electronic warfare systems;
    • Helmet tracking system and data recording system;
    • Weapon systems and Sniper POD.
  • Perform repair, overhaul and modification work, determine the sequence of operations, the wiring components to be used, the routing of the cables and the method of electrical connection to the aircraft parts from drawings techniques, complex wiring diagrams, assembly kits, inspection reports, change reports, cable routing manuals, material and process standards, operating test reports, or verbal instructions;
  • Ensure the identification, routing, fixing and connection of the cables. Remove any electrical components when required and secure certain parts as part of the installation work;
  • Make the connection to the terminals and the switch panels and replace the defective equipment;
  • Conduct testing of electrical continuity and grounding of electrical and electronic circuits;
  • act as a team member, providing assistance to other crew members as required;
  • Perform Daily inspections on AMSE equipment, ensuring serviceability;
  • Observe and adhere to all safety regulations in the performance of duties, ensuring absolute compliance of safety policies and procedures;
  • Maintain work area cleanliness;
  • Follow the rules of the control of the tools;
  • Assist in initiating technical and administrative reports as required;
  • Forward supply requirements to section supply coordinator in a timely fashion, ensuring stock levels are maintained;

Qualifications:

  • Graduated from a TCCA recognized AME Basic Training program focused on “E” Rating;
  • completed RCAF AVS on-type training;


Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Very good knowledge of CF-18 Technical Orders;
  • Knowledge of Canadian Forces aircraft maintenance operation;
  • Be conversant with CFTOs and other technical information pertaining to Engines and related components;
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal direction or as part of a team;
  • Ability to present ideas/solutions to peers, technical staff, customers and supervisors (e.g., new or improvement processes, procedures);
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and able to adapt to new software systems; and
  • Proven organizational ability.


Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada Reliability status and Secret Level 2/NATO Secret security clearance;
  • Must be eligible to meet the requirements for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
