Kinsa is recruiting for a: Grocery Store General Manager


Location: Edmonton, Alberta, Canada (Onsite)


Our client is a Grocery / Retail Store based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. They are looking for a dedicated and dynamic General Manager to lead their grocery store. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a passion for customer service, and extensive knowledge of grocery operations. As the General Manager, you will oversee daily operations, drive sales growth, and ensure a positive shopping experience for our customers.


Successful candidates 5+ years of experience in a Grocery Retail Management.


Compensation/Benefits:

  • $110,000 – $145,000 US base salary ($150-200k Canadian)

Key Responsibilities and Goals:

  • Manage daily store operations, including inventory management, merchandising, and customer service.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food safety regulations.
  • Monitor and improve store performance metrics, including sales, profit margins, and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and manage the store budget, forecasting sales and controlling expenses.
  • Analyze financial reports to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Enhance the overall customer shopping experience through effective service and store presentation.
  • Address customer complaints and feedback promptly and professionally.
  • Oversee product selection, pricing strategies, and promotional activities, and collaborate with Marketing to develop local advertising and promotions.


Competencies Needed for Success:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of retail management experience, preferably in grocery or food retail.
  • Strong understanding of grocery operations, inventory management and supply chain, and customer service principles. Ability to create SOP’s.
  • Strong financial acumen, reading financial statements, understanding department successes and ability to pivot. Proven ability to drive sales and manage budget.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in using retail management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness to work as needed in a 7-day/week operation with hours 8AM-9PM.
