An excellent for a real estate lawyer either coming off of parental leave or looking to join a reputable real estate developer as Legal Counsel.


Our client, a reputable, smaller yet rapidly growing Vancouver-based Real Estate development company with a growing residential and commercial portfolio, is looking for a part time (2-3 days per week) Legal Counsel to join their Vancouver head office.


As the company’s ‘go-to’ internal Legal Counsel the successful candidate will have a minimum of 5+ years of real estate and oversee the day-to-day legal matters (contract review, oversight, negotiation and delegation to external counsel) on behalf of the organization.


Your responsibilities will include:


Working closely with the executive team (CEO, Head of People, Shareholders and the Board), the successful candidate will:


  • Largely be responsible for document and contract review, analysis and interpretation (including but not limited to construction documents, loan documents, financing agreements, lease agreements, invoicing).
  • Will be the company’s point-person for external counsel, responsible for delegation and follow up.
  • Acting as liaison and legal point person between development and property management and external counsel.
  • Independently handling small litigation matters or offering overseeing external litigation matters.
  • Advising on legal matters as it pertains to the business.


The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have a Law degree (J.D. or LL.B) and be a member in good standing of the Law Society of British Columbia.
  • 5+ years of relevant real estate experience gained either in a law firm or in-house environment.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively within different departments and explain legal concepts in a relatable and concise manner.
  • Have the ability to stand on their own and be a self-starter.
  • Have excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Enjoy working in a team-based, collegial environment on a part-time basis.
