Position Overview:

Are you looking to be part of a growing and developing team in an organization that values its people, customers, work, and supply chain? If so, APEX is currently accepting applications for a Senior Estimator within its Custom Contract Manufacturing Group. This is a full-time, permanent position reporting to the Operations Manager.

The primary role of this position is to develop costing models, compile or analyze data on factors influencing cost such as materials, labor, location, and special requirements, including processing, freight, etc. You will work closely with a production engineering group to understand technical cost implications such as available resource, sequence of operations, allowances for material waste, production volumes, batch sizes, special processing requirements and other manufacturing variables.

In this position, you will be the client liaison and be responsible for communications, proposal preparation and presentation. The estimator is also responsible for evaluating market circumstances, monitoring win/lost performance and supporting continuous improvement relative to the sales process and business objectives. Some weekend work or overtime may be required and training will be provided.

Responsibilities:

  • Responding to client requests in a timely fashion.
  • Reporting metrics (i.e., response time, RFQ queue, win/lost, etc.)
  • Analyzing plans, bill-of-materials, quantities, or other project documentation.
  • Interfacing with departmental disciplines.
  • Research, source, negotiate and obtain relevant info. (tech, expense, client data, etc.).
  • Assessing the financial, technical, and operational risks of the project
  • Prioritize request for quotations based on group objectives, short and long term.
  • Proposal preparation & presentation.
  • Support improvements relative to client experience, performance, systems & process.
  • Liaison with product & service suppliers.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a college diploma or university degree. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • Manufacturing (machining or fabrication) industry experience.
  • Strong teamwork values.
