Description

Job Summary:

You're a dynamic accountant with experience in a variety of accounting duties. As an Intermediate Accountant you will be responsible for the reconciliation of monthly bank statements, GST, PST, US Sales and Used tax, balance sheet accounts and fixed assets related tasks. The position includes collaborating with, but not limited to Treasury, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivables and LEG to meet monthly/quarterly/annual deliverables.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Prepares, files and remits monthly complex GST/PST/SUT returns and bank reconciliations, working under moderate supervision, solves routine problems within defied procedures
  • prepares and enters monthly journal entries to meet accounting cutoff schedules
  • Reviews monthly data integrity checks and balancing reports for GL, AR, AP, correcting where required
  • Prepares fixed asset continuity schedules and addition and disposal analysis, following up on discrepancies
  • Performs complex balance sheet account reconciliations investigates, follows-up and resolves issues around bank and account reconciliations to ensure completeness and accuracy of reconciliation
  • Generates and distribute monthly divisional reports
  • Assist with provincial allocation tax working papers and fixed asset related reports for US tax
  • Participate in year-end audit requirements and prepare annual audit working papers and supporting documents.
  • Assist with ad-hoc financial analysis and projects

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including prior experience in use of pivot tables, advanced formulas, filtering, and organizing large volumes of data
  • Ability to meet deadlines during peak periods
  • Experience in a multi-entity environment considered an asset
  • Proficiency in MS Office, with high level of proficiency in Excel
  • Experience with a large ERP experience an asset (i.e. JDE and Hyperion Financial Management)
  • Effective analytical skills with an attention to detail and ability to multi-task, set priorities and meet tight deadlines

Working Conditions

  • This position is a hybrid in office/from home with the expectation of in office 1 day a week
