Job Purpose

The buyer will be responsible for the products that fall under the miscellaneous category for purchasing from various sources and be able to negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive prices as required.

Duties And Responsibilities

The associate’s primary functions and responsibilities are as follows:

  • Identify internal preferences and forecast purchasing department trends.
  • Process requisitions and update management on status of orders.
  • Update inventory in replenishment stock area and ensure that stock levels are kept at appropriate levels.
  • Evaluate supplier options according to prices, quality etc. and determine the best choices.
  • Discover and purchase needed products and check the quality and the availability of those already on our locations.
  • Ensure the timely delivery of products and compliance with the contracts of purchase.
  • Monitor stock levels and make plans for buying within budget.
  • Create reports as needed on purchases, budgets and internal satisfaction and adjust your strategies accordingly.
  • Locates new sources of supply, establishes new suppliers and coordinates order maintenance with existing suppliers for regional activities
  • Weekly review on credit card statements against purchases for validation.
  • Exercises ample expertise and flexibility to procure all emergency requirements in co-operation with requisitioning departments in the organization to ensure project completion.
  • Follow through with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries
  • Perform other assigned duties.
  • Follow Health and Safety rules and regulations.
  • Must follow Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety, and Food Defense guidelines.
  • Comply with all Company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a buyer or relevant role.
  • Outstanding communication abilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Demonstrable aptitude in effective negotiating.
  • Up to speed with purchasing best practices.
  • Familiarity with market research, data analysis and forecasting techniques.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office; working knowledge of purchasing software an advantage
  • High school diploma; BSc/BA in business administration or relevant field will be considered a plus.

Working conditions

  • Always work indoors.
  • Travel to all locations as required.
  • Straight shift work.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.

  • May repeat the same movement.
  • Typing involved.
