We are looking for a Total Rewards and Organizational Design Manager based out of the St. Thomas, Ontario office.

For the initial ramp-up phase of our North American operations we are looking for a Manager, Total Reward and Organizational Design who wants to CELLebrate in fast-paced and fast-changing environments. As part of the ramp-up team, you will work closely with the HR Team in St. Thomas, our PowerCo SE team members at Headquarters in Germany as well as colleagues from the Volkswagen Group Canada in Ajax, ON. Reporting temporarily to the Chief Human Resources Officer for VGCA, you will participate in developing, implementing & administering our benefit programs ensuring the programs meet employee needs, comply with legal requirements & are cost effective.

This is a temporary flex hybrid model, requiring 2 days in the St. Thomas office.

Benefits

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Administer employee benefit programs.
  • Lead the annual design process to ensure plans are competitive and cost efficient.
  • Provide direction to benefit plan providers concerning approved plan design and administration.
  • Manage vendor relationships/performance and negotiate administrative fee arrangements.
  • Manage benefit plan budget for welfare plans, retirement, service recognition program, corporate credit cards program, relocation, vehicle program, charitable giving, etc.
  • Approve benefit plan SPD’s, enrollment materials, and employee communication materials.
  • Develop and document processes related to benefits administration, compliance and data integrity.
  • Monitor provider performance and operational results for benefit planning purposes.
  • Ensure SAP supports benefit plan administration data and interface requirements.
  • Benchmark benefit programs in the market place to ensure competitiveness of the company’s benefit programs.
  • Develop new benefit plans in collaboration with providers/vendors.
  • Oversee annual enrollment for employees and retirees.

Compensation

  • Analyze company compensation policies in relation to government wage and hour regulations, prevailing rates for similar jobs in comparable industries or geographic areas, and recommend changes where appropriate to establish and maintain competitive rates.
  • Participate in the development and administration of the employee performance review process to ensure compliance with salary administration guidelines.
  • Determine the amount of the annual salary increase program and the implementation plan for all salaried and hourly employees.
  • Design and develop the implementation of the annual Bonus and Variable Compensation programs.
  • Review and evaluate the compensation level of employees to determine the amount of any special or equity salary adjustments.
  • Participate in salary surveys and automotive industry association meetings to represent the Company and exchange compensation information with other automotive companies to gather data and develop total reward programs.
  • Analyze results of comparison and survey data to develop specific recommendations for review by management.

Organizational Design

  • Develop, implement, and optimize structural and procedural standards.
  • Develop, implement, optimize, and provide workforce standards and reports across PowerCo Canada & PowerCo SE.
  • Lead the development and implementation of Headcount Controlling during planning rounds.
  • Spearhead the development and implementation of the Job Position Management System.
  • Manage Business Process Management, encompassing methods, standards, and tools.
  • Ensure seamless organizational structure and process organization with interfaces across all levels, including board committees, corporate strategy, and policy setting

Desired Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Sociology or related area and/or equivalent work experience
  • 7+ years experience in benefit plan design & administration
  • 3+ years experience managing a team
  • Working knowledge of Canadian benefit and pension legislation
  • Knowledge of accounting methods as they relate to benefit plans
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications: Word, excel, PowerPoint, Internet browsers
  • High level of discretion in dealing with highly confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to plan, schedule, and deliver both long and short-term projects with consideration to stakeholders and adherence to strict deadlines.
  • Highly skilled with Excel and MS Office programs.
  • Experience with HR SAP, SuccessFactors is considered an asset
  • Ability to manage and scale projects
  • Strong written, verbal and relationship building skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and deadlines
  • German language knowledge is considered an asset
