Reporting to the Director, Portfolio Management & Analytics, the Manager will work closely with a diverse set of stakeholders to generate insights and deliver judicious recommendations. You will drive analyses, oversight, and judicious thought leadership for Mortgage and HELOC Portfolios, ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are assisted in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.
Job Responsibilities:

Assist the Sr. Manager & Director in sensitivity analyses to essay performance benchmarks against various environmental trends; develop scenario frameworks and readiness playbooks by identifying and prioritizing levers.

Collaborate in the measure and monitor policy changes across the credit life cycle (adjudication, customer management and collections) with a focus on credit performance; assist various teams in development and adjustments to policy through judicious insights.

Monitor RESL portfolio indicators, proactively assessing performance alongside macro-economic and external trends.

Triangulate internal data analyses with macro-economic and consumer trend reports to find customer vulnerability; maintain an integrated set of performance benchmarks to continuously monitor segment performance.

Collaborate in assisting annual judicious planning process through thought leadership on implications to KPIs and risk related metrics, based on business objectives and growth plans.

Collaborate in the preparation deep dive analyses on key segments within the RESL portfolio, provisioning, and peer trends.

Collect, process, and perform statistical analysis (prescriptive to predictive) on complex datasets to inform risk decisions.
Job Requirements:

Strong analytical skills and the ability to create and interpret information/data required to monitor the performance of credit portfolios are essential.

Proficiency in programming and/or database programs (MongoDB, SAS, JAVA, SQL, R, Hadoop, Python)

Must have a university degree in relevant STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).

3-5 years of relevant work experience

Expertise and thorough understanding of credit and portfolio management, mortgage underwriting and credit analytics.

Good understanding of: i) RESL products, systems and channels, and the markets in which Scotiabank operates; ii) Bank’s credit risk policy and risk appetite framework; iii) retail lending process and applications; and iv) legislative and marketplace issues relative to credit risk management.

Solid financial skills, solid deductive reasoning, sound judgement and creativity.

Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively convey information to various levels of management.

Knowledge of credit risk management origination techniques and strategies in Retail credit, including the create of champion/challenger tests and risk strategies utilizing credit risk scores.
