The Role

The Director of Business Development will be responsible for driving growth and expanding our client base in the construction and project management sectors. This strategic leader will develop and implement business development initiatives to enhance our market presence, build strong client relationships, and achieve revenue targets. The title of the role is flexible, but what we are really focused on is finding someone with the right market expertise, network, and business acumen to help us grow in the Ottawa market. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the construction industry and project management services, with a proven track record in developing and executing successful business development strategies.

Reporting To The VP, Business Development, You Will

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy to identify and secure new business opportunities in the construction and project management sectors.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, industry partners, and stakeholders to drive business growth and enhance the company's reputation.
  • Lead the preparation and delivery of proposals, presentations, and negotiations to secure new projects and partnerships.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure a thorough understanding of client needs and develop tailored solutions that meet those needs.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments to identify opportunities for growth and innovation.
  • Oversee the business development team, providing mentorship and guidance to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
  • Monitor and report on business development performance metrics, adjusting strategies as necessary to meet targets.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to promote our services and expand our professional network.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 8-10 years of experience in business development, sales, or marketing within the construction or project management industry.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful business development strategies and achieving revenue targets.
  • Strong understanding of the construction industry, project management practices, and market dynamics.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with the ability to identify and capitalize on market opportunities.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Note: Occasional travel to industry events and client meetings across Canada may be required.
