The Role

We are a cutting-edge firmware-focused team, committed to developing leading-edge Server/Data Center (DC) CPU and AI & ML Accelerators. The team is passionate about SoC level firmware and AI/ML Accelerator firmware development from architectural concept development through customer production.

The Person

We are searching for an energetic experienced engineer to work in a highly talented team on support SoC firmware development, validate, test, build, release, and collaborate with firmware QA team and other teams of silicon design, and architecture teams across all domains of the SoC. Successful candidates will develop and manage world-class firmware, innovate, improve, and work with the advanced processes to deliver high-quality firmware powering tomorrow’s data center compute needs.

A successful candidate should be self-motivated, result-driven, detail orientated, critical problem-solving, capable of handling tasks under a tight schedule.

Key Responsibiies

  • Develop state-of-the-art firmware on AMD AI/MI accelerator product for Data Center and Server systems
  • Triage and debug challenging firmware-related issues on SoC level across teams
  • Create and execute firmware function and feature development plans
  • Manage and coordinate change lists for firmware release according to engineering stack package release
  • Collaborate with Silicon IP design team, firmware/software architect, and other teams to triage, debug or implement features and fixes
  • Operate with a mindset of continuous improvement, delivering year over year efficiencies and quality improvements.
  • Innovate and differentiate through firmware to delight customers and secure AMD’s position as the vendor of choice for data center and enterprise deployments.


Preferred Experience

  • Experience in software/embedded firmware development and software/firmware testing experience in server and data center environments.
  • Work experience with computer system hardware, software, embedded firmware and embedded systems, Hardware and FW testing and methodologies development.
  • Good knowledge on server and data center system architecture, and computer boot, initialization sequence and Operation System
  • Experience with silicon bringup flow, emulation system and emulation structure a plus.
  • Security/cryptography experience would be an asset
  • Strong analytical skills and debug methodologies.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills with open mindset.
  • Laboratory experience and knowledge of PCB and schematics design as valuable assets.


Academic Credentials

  • Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
