Job Description

We currently have an opening for a Senior Water Resources Engineer in Kelowna to join our growing team.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to collaborate and deliver water resources, infrastructure, and transportation projects across BC. These projects will encompass a variety of water resources sub-specialties including watershed management, hydrology, hydrotechnical engineering, drainage engineering, and coastal/shoreline engineering. You will deliver innovative solutions to complex projects and be challenged to develop high quality products for our valued clients in many sectors, such as municipal and regional governments, transportation, and natural resources.

Your responsibilities would include the following:

  • Involvement in a variety of project phases including planning, design, tendering, and construction.
  • Site visits to assess project sites, carry out construction field reviews, or complete emergency flood response services.
  • Hydrological analysis and watershed modelling.
  • Assessment of climate change impacts to support planning and design of infrastructure.
  • Hydraulic analysis and modelling of creeks/rivers/channels, culverts, bridges, and water management structures.
  • Hydraulic analysis and modelling of drainage and stormwater systems.
  • Statistical analysis of hydrometeorological datasets.
  • Mapping and spatial analysis of GIS data.
  • Hydrotechnical design of water management infrastructure and flood protection systems such as dikes, bank erosion/scour protection, shoreline erosion protection, inlet/outlet structures, spillway channels, culverts, bridges, weirs, sediment basins, and wetlands etc.
  • Proposal preparation.
  • Project management.
  • Technical writing and preparation of client deliverables.
  • Senior review and quality assurance of project work.
  • Business development with clients.
  • Meeting project requirements in a timely and effective manner.

Job Requirements

What you will bring:

  • Undergraduate degree in engineering or applied sciences from an accredited university. A graduate degree and/or a water resources focus in your educational background will be considered an asset.
  • Registered, or eligible for registration, as a Professional Engineer with EGBC.
  • 10+ years of experience.
  • Experience analyzing and designing a variety of solutions for water resources and infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with detailed design, tendering, and construction phases of projects.
  • Experience using water resources software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HEC-SSP, R , Raven, and/or PCSWMM.
  • Experience in GIS and spatial analysis software such as QGIS, Manifold, or ArcGIS.
  • Ability to work in both collaborative team environments and independently.
  • Highly self motivated with excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with clients and contribute to business development opportunities.
  • Ability to lead project teams and mentor junior team members.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to project sites.

The salary range for this position is $100,000.00 to $160,000.00 and is commensurate with experience relative to this position.
