What do you offer?

The Security Worker will provide security services to residents, staff, members, and the general public in a friendly, open, and non-discriminatory manner.

An addition to the weekend shifts, an additional shift from 11pm to 9am on Thursdays may be offered to the successful candidate.

Some Of The Tasks Of This Position Include

  • Controlling access to the building at the entrance when at the Residence desk or when monitoring the parking area.
  • Providing point-of-entry services to Support Workers and back-up during crises/emergencies.
  • Providing emergency security and reporting situations so they are resolved in a timely, efficient, and effective manner.
  • Conducting frequent building patrols each shift and records sweep in log.
  • Doing sporadic checks of floors via video surveillance.
  • Documenting according to current professional standards any significant interactions with residents, maintaining appropriate documentation in approved format, and completing incident reports when required.
  • Ensuring guest sign-in and issuing passes as required
  • Checking fire alarm panel during fire alarms, and quickly reviewing activities in the area.
  • Issuing Association keys to authorized staff.
  • Shoveling and de-icing front entrance, podium, steps, ramp, and garage exit ramp as needed during winter to provide a safe pathway to the building until contractor services arrive.
  • Ensure safe environments by monitoring, supporting other staff, and calling for on-site or local emergency services assistance when needed

The Successful Candidate Will Have The Following

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Security Certification required

Language

  • Fluent in English, oral and written
  • Bilingualism is an asset

Experience, Skills And Abilities

  • Previous security, hotel front office, cash management, and/or customer service experience
  • Computer literacy
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and creative skills
  • Ability to create a strong presence and provide a respectful but safe welcoming environment

Additional Requirements

  • Applicants must have a current Standard First Aid and CPR "C" certification.
  • Applicants must already have a valid permit to work in Canada.
  • A Police Record check, not more than 6 months old is required. Police Records checks are reviewed on an individual basis and the offense(s) - if any - is considered in the decision-making process in relation to the requirement of working with children, therefore not eliminating all candidates with a record from being offered a position.
  • Semi-annually all staff must complete the mandatory training for the protection of Children & Youth, and submit the certificate of completion.
