Position Information

Join the AOMTU team and help improve patient flow, outcomes and experience!

The Ambulance Offload and Medicine Transition Unit (AOMTU) was created to add bed capacity to offload patients more efficiently from Ambulance Paramedics to our emergency department, along with supporting our ongoing efforts to improve patient flow. More timely patient transitions will increase our ability to provide each patient with the world-class care, exceptional service and compassion we would want for our loved ones. The facility be comprised of Ambulance Offload and Inpatient Beds.

Temporary position until approximately June 01, 2026.

Rotation/Shifts

Days and nights, including weekends, 12 hour shifts.

Basic Requirements

  • Certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario;
  • Minimum of three (3) months general nursing experience;
  • Demonstrates theoretical knowledge of the nursing process as it relates to the general medicine/surgery patient and the ability to apply this knowledge in a clinical setting;
  • Theoretical knowledge of the care of the general medicine patient, and ability to apply this knowledge in a clinical setting;
  • Demonstrates the ability to assess the patient's learning needs and ability to plan appropriate teaching;
  • Demonstrates the ability to participate as an active member of the health care team;
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in an oral and written format with patients, public, colleagues and other health discipline;
  • Identifies a commitment to personal continuing education activities;
  • Demonstrates an understanding and a willingness to participate in self-evaluation;
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the application and relevance of the nursing audit;
  • Eligible to work in Canada.


Preferred Qualifications

  • A degree in Nursing.
  • Proficiency in English and French: oral expression (advanced level) and comprehension (advanced level).
