Project Manager - Tailings & Environment

Position Overview

The Project Manager – Tailings & Environment is responsible for all closure aspects related to the tailings management area, waste rock dumps, water management, waste management as well as environmental considerations and permitting.

Key Responsibilities

• Main areas of focus would be Tailings Management Area (TMA) and mine waste rock closure plan design including investigation and optimization tests, constructability tests, detailed engineering, preparation for execution of closure, including any progressive closure execution work on TMA and mine site
• Responsible for ensuring the appropriate level of design and study for environmental aspects for all closure areas (ex: Revegetation, water management (clean and mine-impacted), dam Management, water treatment optimization, mine waste rock management, waste management, biodiversity, land tenure, Level 1/2/3 site assessments, knowledge base, etc).
• Primary accountable for ensuring closure design and permitting is timely achieved that aligns with ICMM framework, Glencore Standards, Capital Management Framework and aligned with North American Closed Sites Team.
• Work with project controller to ensure scope, schedule, and budget for areas of responsibility are up to date, accurate and complete.
  
  

Qualifications

• Professional Engineer Designation or equivalent with relevant experience (7+ years mining industry experience)
• 5+ years mine projects (concept, pre-feasibility and feasibility)
• Experience in financial and cost modeling
• Demonstrated ability to handle a varied workload in a fast-paced environment while leading teams to achieve deadlines
• Good oral and written communication skills
