We are looking for a Manager, Health & Wellness to join our Human Resources team. Reporting to the Director, Talent and Change, you will join a team of HR, Health & Wellness professionals at our Halifax location where we offer you a Hybrid work option.

The Manager, Health & Wellness, is responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight in the development, implementation, and administration of Health & Wellbeing programs and policies. This role is pivotal in promoting employee health, safety, and wellness, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, and fostering a supportive and healthy workplace environment.

Key Elements Of This Role Include

  • Develop and Implement Health & Wellbeing Programs: Lead the design and execution of comprehensive health and wellness programs that support employee health and organizational objectives.
  • Oversee Case Management: Manage a team responsible for short-term illness claims, long-term disability applications, workers’ compensation, medical accommodation review, attendance review, fitness for work review, and employee health promotion.
  • Support Complex Cases: Assist with complex cases, focusing on early support, stay-at-work intervention, safe return to work, and reduction of absenteeism.
  • Critical Incident Response: Directly support critical incident response, integrating trauma-informed approaches.
  • Continuous Improvement: Use expertise to enable continuous improvement, support employee engagement, and incorporate best practices.
  • Foster Relationships: Build strong working relationships with business leaders, HR, Safety, and the Emera Wellness team.
  • Pandemic Planning: Lead pandemic and influenza-related planning within the organization.
  • Metric Management: Accountable for metric management and reporting, including utilization, statistics, and satisfaction of wellness programs.
  • Contract Management: Review and manage various health contracts with external vendors.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Health, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Case Management, including team leadership.
  • Proven experience in case management, health and safety, with an understanding of psychological health and safety.

Technical/Job Specific Knowledge And Abilities

  • Demonstrated and passionate commitment to health and safety, with an understanding of psychological health and safety.
  • Experience developing strategy and leading multi-stakeholder projects and initiatives, integrating a lens of Change Management.
  • Proficient working experience with policy and legislation in the areas of Human Rights, Privacy, Workers’ Compensation, Human Resources, and Occupational Health & Safety.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with experience managing internal and external stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong business acumen, along with demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Proven analytical skills to develop, evaluate, and implement recommendations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft suite of products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
