Trans Mountain Corporation operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. As an Emergency Management Co-op Student (8 months) with Trans Mountain, you’ll have the opportunity to work with a dynamic and fast-paced group of Emergency Management experts. The successful candidate will also be exposed to a variety of work environments including office and field-based settings providing a diverse working experience that is unique to the field of emergency management.

This opportunity is open to post-secondary students who are currently enrolled in their 2nd or 3rd year of studies and is part of a Co-op or Internship Program.

This position is based in our Calgary office and will report to the Manager, Emergency Management.

Duration: January 6, 2025 to August 29,2025

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the development and maintenance of the Emergency Management Program documentation ensuring Program compliance with the Canadian Energy Regulator (CER) Onshore Pipeline Regulations.
  • Responsibilities will include assisting with updates to Emergency Response Plans, Geographic Response Plans, and other related Emergency Management documentation.
  • Support the Emergency Management Training and Exercise Program by assisting with logistics coordination and onsite representation during exercise events including liaising with participants/observers including external agency and community attendees.
  • Conduct inventory and analysis of emergency response equipment and Go-Boxes, including documentation of user guides and quick response kits, to ensure Trans Mountain maintains its state of emergency readiness.
  • Assist in business continuity workshops and updating of business continuity plans.
  • Assist in Emergency Management Program data management, capture, analysis and reporting.
  • Support field-based activities including spill response control point evaluations.
  • Assist with inventory and documentation of emergency response equipment.
  • Assist with other team functions and provide support as necessary.

Qualifications and Professional Experience:

  • Emergency Management, Business Continuity, Business or Risk Management or related program with an accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Experience with public speaking and event planning would be preferred.
  • Common knowledge of Microsoft systems (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/SharePoint).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to change with strong attention to detail.
  • Must be a team player with a positive attitude.
  • Self-motivated, capable of performing tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle strict deadlines.

Other Requirements and Information:

  • Some travel required (3 - 4 times during the work term).

The expected pay range for this position is $22.42 to $30.07 CAD per hour
