Wood is seeking a Lead Instrumentation & Controls Engineer in Calgary or Edmonton, AB to join our busy and growing Oil & Gas Canada team due to growth in our business!

Responsibilities

  • Leading a team of engineers and technologists on In-Situ (thermal/SAGD) market segment
  • Assures compliance with Engineering Procedures and quality control standards
  • Support in the development of estimates for engineering work
  • Completing progress reporting, attending project meetings and providing work hour forecasts
  • Interfacing with various engineering disciplines and suppliers.

Project Execution Which May Include

  • Providing input to process for P&ID development
  • Reviewing, specifying and validating selection for field instrumentation (Pres/Temp/Flow/Level), Control Valves, on/off valves and PSV’s
  • Prepare and review control deliverables such as Control Narrative, Cause and Effect diagram, and Control system architecture
  • Participate in HAZOP, LOPA, and SIL reviews
  • Reviewing and approving Instrument Loop diagrams and validation of supplier system cabinet design / wiring
  • Reviewing project documents for scope, presentation and technical accuracy.
  • Reviewing and validation of Material Requisitions, Technical Bid Evaluations and award recommendations for various equipment within instrumentation and controls.
  • Review and approval of various Instrument lists (Index, I/O list, I/O assignments, Load list, etc)
  • Have frequent contact with vendors, clients and internal staff

Qualifications

  • Instrumentation Technologist / Bachelors in Science, Engineering from an accredited University or College.
  • Experience leading a team of engineers and designers throughout the project lifecycle is a requirement.
  • Minimum of 8+ yrs. Industry experience in the oil and gas sector such as: Well Pads, SAGD, In Situ or pipeline gathering
  • Understanding and familiarity of API, ASME, CSA and ISA codes and directives.
  • Ability to problem-solve effectively and have the ability to multi-task
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in the use of Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI/Intools) is an asset.
  • Registration through APEGA as a P.ENG/P.L. (ENG)
