Description

We are partnering with a well-established and independent investment dealer that has carved a niche in the Canadian energy sector for over half a century. As a fully integrated firm, our client provides specialized investment services to a diverse clientele, acts as a financial advisor and underwriter for energy companies, and highlights its own trading group and comprehensive investment research.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will report directly to the Head of IT, playing a vital role in strengthening the firm's cybersecurity measures and steering the timely execution of departmental initiatives. They will be instrumental in fueling projects, enhancing communication among a small IT team, and contributing to the safe operation of mission-critical systems and services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Development and implementation of cybersecurity strategies and procedures to safeguard the company's digital assets
  • Management of security controls to minimize identified risk based on probability and potential impact
  • Ongoing tracking of cybersecurity performance and control effectiveness, introducing changes when necessary
  • Ensuring that cybersecurity efforts align with business goals and comply with relevant regulations
  • Leading the team in response to security incidents, including investigation, containment, and mitigation
  • Managing complex projects involving risk assessment, impact analysis, rollback planning, and recommendations for action
  • Cultivating relationships with security partners, vendors, and service providers
  • Collaborating with teams to resolve complex technical problems
  • Configuration and maintenance of the company's digital infrastructure
  • Assisting with disaster recovery planning and failover procedures

Requirements

PREREQUISITES:

  • 3-5 years in a cybersecurity role, with at least 5 years of network, virtualization, and system administration experience in a Microsoft environment
  • Bachelors in Computer Science, ITS, Cybersecurity, or a related field
  • Expertise in identity access management, network security, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and PKI/encryption technologies
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft domain environment, Azure cloud administration and security, and VMware technology
  • Proven project management skills, strategic planning, risk management abilities
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, ability to meet multiple demands and deadlines in high-pressure environments

Working Conditions

Work location is in downtown city. Working hours are typically Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm, with some evenings and weekends as required to meet project deadlines. After hours responsiveness and paid on-call rotation may be needed.
