Manager, Master Data Management and Governance

Assent

Date: 1 week ago
City: Ottawa, ON
Contract type: Full time

Assent is the leading solution for supply chain sustainability tailored for the world’s top-tier, sustainability-driven manufacturers. Hidden risks riddle supply chains, many of which weren't built with sustainability in mind. That's where we step in. With insights from experts, Assent is the tool manufacturers trust for comprehensive sustainability.

We are proud to announce that Assent has crossed the US$100M ARR milestone, granting us Centaur Status. This accomplishment, reached just 8 years following our Series A, makes us the first and only Certified B Corporation in North America's SaaS sustainability industry to celebrate this milestone.

Our journey from $5 million to US$100M ARR in just eight years has been marked by significant growth and achievements. With our $350 million US funding led by Vista Equity Partners, we're poised for even greater expansion and are on the lookout for outstanding team members to join our mission.

Hybrid Work Model

At Assent, we proudly embrace a remote-first work model, valuing the flexibility and autonomy it provides our team. We also acknowledge the intangible benefits of occasional in-person workdays. For team members situated within 50 kms/31 miles of our five global offices in Ottawa, Eldoret, Penang, Columbus, and Amsterdam, you can expect to come into the office at least one day a week. Similarly, those near our co-working spaces in Nairobi and Toronto are encouraged to work onsite once a month.

The Manager, Master Data Management and Governance will play a key role in Assent’s data strategy and product development by owning the technology and processes that govern Assent’s master data. This role will be responsible for leading a team of specialists in data governance, modeling, and master data management, with the aim of providing internal and external data consumers with high-quality, unified data across disparate sources. You will own the technical platform for entity resolution and promote the goals of data integration, data stewardship, data quality, and governance across Assent’s Product organization.

Key Requirements and Responsibilities

  • Define master data management strategies, services, capabilities, data governance, and quality solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional leaders and stakeholders across Assent to build internal processes and governance that ensure data quality and a single source of truth.
  • Lead day-to-day operations, growth, and development for a team of data modelers, governance specialists, and analysts.
  • Support the creation and rollout of Assent’s data strategy, particularly with respect to entity resolutions and sources of truth.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and innovation, where difficult data challenges are tackled eagerly with a focus on measurable outcomes.
  • Contribute to data source identification, data modeling, and data mapping.
  • Ensure departmental security processes and procedures are followed where applicable.

This is not an exhaustive list of duties. Responsibilities may be altered and/or added from time to time to meet business needs.

We strongly value your talent, energy, and passion. We encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds who may not meet all of these qualifications but possess relevant skills and a willingness to learn:

  • Demonstrated expertise in data architecture design patterns, reference data management, data lineage, data warehousing tools, and metadata management.
  • Experience leveraging Informatica, Reltio, Ataccama, or other enterprise Master Data Management solutions.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to gain alignment across cross-functional teams, understand business needs, and develop processes to support them.
  • Strong people leadership experience, interest, and aptitude. This role will be well-positioned in a growing data team at Assent.
  • Good working knowledge of entity resolution methods, technologies, and relevant algorithms.
  • Knowledge of the AWS data technology stack.
  • Strong Agile development experience.
  • An education in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is desireable.
  • You enjoy developing innovative ideas and advance state-of-the-art solutions.
  • You are a true team player and see collaboration and feedback as a means to innovate and accelerate greatness.
