About The Opportunity

The INSPIRED COPD Outreach Program, in collaboration with Research, Innovation and Discovery, is developing a community-based program providing spirometry and virtual COPD education across Nova Scotia.

The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing spirometry to sites within the Central Zone. The Respiratory Therapist will also support COPD education, primarily in a virtual format, with the potential for in-person. This position reports to the Health Services Manager, Ambulatory Care, under the direction of the Provincial Program Coordinator and Medical Director of the INSPIRED COPD Outreach Program.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

• Graduate of an accredited School of Respiratory Therapy and currently licensed with the Nova Scotia College of Respiratory Therapists required
• A minimum of two years' experience in Respiratory Therapy is required
• Successful completion of the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care Exams required
• Current certification in BCLS is required
• Proof of completion of an approved COPD Educators program (CRE) or equivalent preferred; or willingness to complete after hiring
• Clinical experience in the relevant practice area preferred (i.e., Respiratory clinic, community-based care, chronic disease management, asthma/COPD education
• Experience conducting spirometry and/or pulmonary function testing preferred
• Ability to prioritize, problem solve and work under patient caseload time limitations
• Willingness to adapt to change as program evolves
• Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills; must be an effective team player
• Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, videoconferencing)
• Experience with virtual care is an asset; must be willing to integrate virtual care into practice
• Able to work flexibly from an office, home or community setting to provide both in-person and virtual care
• Access to reliable transportation, as regular travel is required for clinical visits
• Willing to travel within program catchment area with occasional travel beyond catchment, for training or meeting purposes
• Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

• Permanent part-time position; 37.5 hours biweekly
• This is a hybrid position. Working virtually and in a community setting. Option to work on site located at Bayer's Lake Community Centre
  
  

Compensation And Benefits

$32.43 - $40.66 Hourly
