Purpose

Reporting directly to the Health, Safety, and Security Superintendent, The Emergency Services Advisor will be responsible for ensuring emergency response equipment and emergency response plans are maintained in compliance with Government and Company requirements. Additionally ,they shall ensure the site requirements for Emergency Services personnel are in place and teams are prepared to respond in the event of an emergency.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate between Mine Rescue Ontario and department leadership to deliver training for all ERT and Mine Rescue personnel
  • Create training and lesson plans, in collaboration with site rescue team captains and Ontario Mine Rescue
  • Ensuring emergency response personnel are in compliance with training requirements and government regulations
  • Maintain emergency equipment in compliance with government guidelines, Company Standards,
  • Organize Mine Rescue Competition Team
  • Monitor aircraft de-icing program; including training of personnel, licensing, and reagent inventory
  • Audit emergency response equipment

Requirements

  • Underground Common Core and Train the Trainer accreditation
  • Mine Rescue Courses (introductory, briefing officer, technician)
  • Advanced First Aid Certification
  • Minimum of 5 years of Mine Rescue and Surface Emergency Response experience
  • Minimum of 5 years working underground
  • Minimum of 3 years volunteer Firefighter experience
  • High level of knowledge in all aspects of emergency preparedness
  • Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role
  • Computer literacy, including SAP, and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Solid understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations
  • Advanced knowledge of Mine Rescue Management

Working Conditions

The work schedule for this position is 4 on, 3 days off, working 10-hour days.
